Designing a Broadband Amplifier Without Load–Pull

The design of a broadband amplifier without using load-pull is described. This approach relies on coarse model the power amplifier, in which matching networks are represented by rational polynomials and device its large-signal model. A simultaneous search impedance space possible via particle swarm optimization (PSO) can identify solution. prototype demonstrates an outstanding gain 12.8-14.9 dB with ±1 flatness, output greater than 40 dBm, efficiency between 51% 70% over target frequency range 2.4-4.6 GHz, highest CGH40010 to date. measured two-tone third-order intermodulation (IMD3) lower -20 dBc up average 38.7 dBm for frequencies less 4.2 GHz. impedances obtained our converge within high-efficiency region identified conventional approach.
